Overview

The trail begins with a mild ascent that steepens to a saddle with great views. Some swithcbacks take you up the to the top. The trail then continues further, much further, but for this ride, swing a 180 and head back down the way you came, staying on this singletrack back to parking.

There's one short section of more technical riding (White Rhino) on the way, but it's mostly moderate the whole way.

Description

The Late Night trailhead is located in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, west of Las Vegas. It's on Highway 160, 4.7 miles west of the intersection with Highway 159 (West Charleston Blvd.) There are toilets and trail signage there.

On the south side of the parking, a faint singletrack heads towards a drainage tunnel under 160 - this is the start. Follow the trail south. The trails splits off several times, stay on the most used trail in a southerly direction when given a choice.

You'll summit a saddle with several options. Continue on the trail southwest down switchbacks to a T. Turn left up a mostly smooth singletrack until you again summit an immense flat area.

Take a break, snack a snack & drink a drink. Then rotate your bike back down the trail to breezy downhill heaven. There are several easy jumps or ride-arounds. About midway down, you'll encounter the White Rhino section, a short diversion from the smooth terrain to rocky more techy fun. Exiting White Rhino puts you back on mostly smooth riding to the upper tunnel under Hwy 160. Follow the trail through this tunnel heading east back to Late Night trailhead.

Cold. Had just snowed. Rides well - easy long climb, flowy on the down. Some tech but no serious exposure. 8mi — 1h 14m
