Its raw and wild. Be prepared for a LONG, technical descent. The trail starts in the thick new growth transitioning to cliff side riding. The trail has been cleared sometime around early May for the last few years, so that is the best time to hit it. Riding it in the spring is also advantageous because the vegetation is minimal and the visibility is a lot better. Later in the summer the trail gets a lot more narrow, choked out, and rutted from the rains. When not cleared expect a few trees down.

This ride typically starts at the USFS gate at the top of 071 road at the top of Durango Hills subdivision. Leave a vehicle at the bottom of the trail for a shuttle that still requires about 700 ft of climbing. From the gate, follow the road until you see another split off to the left, take that for about 300 feet then turn right onto singletrack which is the beginning of the Missionary Ridge Trail. Go up that for a little bit while looking for Haflin on your left. Enjoy the views and get ready for the downhill.

Haflin Creek Trail starts off fast and tight with thick vegetation. Afterwards, there are steep technical sections with loose rock. Midway down is ripping fast and flowy. The bottom of the trail will remind you of Moab, with lots of fun ledges to pop off of. Check in at 2nd Ave Sports for the latest conditions.

Start up in the sub alpine burn zone to the lower montane to the desert ecotone. Lots of variety on this trail.

At the top, about to shred the gnar. Big bikes and full faces not required but are certainly handy and fun on this trail. Hit it in the spring before the leaves pop out and make the corners blind.

Hold your breath as you navigate this sketchy bridge on Haflin Creek! At first I thought those were animal bones as planks.

Blown away with this trail! The long climb is totally worth it. Steep shoots and very exposed single make for a treacherous ride .
