There is a possibility of encountering rattlesnakes during the warmer months so be cautious, especially if taking your trail dog along.
Start on Foothill Road just off of Winnie Lane west of Carson City. Go LEFT through the wooden gate and around "The Pit."
Cross over the paved bike path and continue west on the Jackrabbit
Trail. Continue straight or keeping left at most major intersections.
The trail will pass by a lone tree, up an off-camber climb to the right on the Postal Trail
and over a small rise.
Continue on the trail heading west, toward the mountains. The trail will cross a couple of dirt roads and will make a sharp left onto the Deer Run
Trail and across some minor rocks. Here you'll go through a G-out at a dirt road - stay RIGHT at this intersection and continue heading west towards the mountains.
You'll go up some easy switchbacks on the Baldy Green
Trail continuing west towards the mountains.
At the top of the rise, there is an armored intersection, go straight here (going RIGHT takes you to Evidence Trail Switchbacks or Capitol Bridge Trail).
Continue on the Four Day
Trail into the trees. At the next major intersection go LEFT and head down to the Ash Canyon Road
. You'll exit singletrack on to the road briefly around a left turn past a small stream.
At the top of the rise, there is a parking area to the LEFT and the start of the Creek Trail
. Follow this down keeping to the LEFT at the next intersection (soon will be the new trail over to King's Canyon).
Continue on the Creek Trail
. Be careful of hikers with dogs coming up the trail.
At the end of the Creek Trail
, go straight or LEFT, either way will lead you across the road to the Connector Trail
and back to the Deer Run
Go through the G-out or dip again and at the next intersection stay LEFT onto the Seven Steps Trail. Ride it until you rejoin the Jackrabbit
Trail and then you'll come out on the paved bike path again.
Go across the bike path and stay right around "The Pit" and back to the parking lot.
