Family Friendly Kids get a kick out of the lake and all the melon gravel with hidden petroglyphs.

After 2.5 miles from the eastern starting point, this trail crosses private property for a little over a half mile. Please stay on the trail and respect any signage.

Description

This desert trail connects Swan Falls Trail to Victory Lane and is the middle section when riding from Swan Falls Dam down to Celebration Point via the north bank of the Snake River.

This trail has literally thousands of variations that meander through vast fields of melon gravel. While all trails are rideable and offer views of petroglyphs and small animals, this trail is best suited for biking as it lacks the deep sand that plagues the other routes.

If you have a 29er or fat tire bike you may want to venture south into the sand for some horse-apple slalom action. The only place to get out of the sun is at Halverson Lake under some thin trees. Take lots of water. Double your usual as the trail dust and heat seem to make you more thirsty.

There is an information kiosk next to the tree at the fork just south of the western endpoint of this trail.

Sand dunes! Also, depending on what trail you find yourself on, the melon gravel presents numerous obstacles that are best passed on foot.

Nice, easy singletrack. Not too technical. Bring your widest tires and your fishing poles! 10mi
