Description

Starting from a major trail intersection at the Col de la Perle (Perle Pass) on the Franco-Italian border, this singletrack climbs steeply up the side of the Cime du Bec (Bec Peak) on the French side of the border. The trail is narrow and parts of it have a significant cross-slope. Coupled with the altitude, it is a difficult 150-m (500 ft) climb over about 0.6 miles.

After this initial climb, the trail levels out for the next mile. The entire route is well above the tree line, so you'll enjoy sweeping vistas down into France particularly from this section after the climbing is finished.

At 1.5 miles, the trail follows exactly the border and you begin to climb again. Fortunately, it is only 100 ft at about 5% grade. After another short, flat section where, you'll enjoy sweeping visas down into Italy where the trail ends at the Les Trois Forts de Montagne (The Three Mountain Forts) trail.
