This loop uses an awesome DH trail
Ode to Joy, with access to another singletrack,
Mama Tried.
Ode to Joy has bigger features and is twice as long as
Mama Tried, making it a technical, double-black diamond.
Wet conditions make these trails really slick, as most features are hand made. They dry out after a couple of days of no rain. Please use judgment when considering riding wet to avoid damaging trails.
Mama Tried can be ridden by beginners, or experienced riders, and is fun for both.
Ode to Joy is much more technical. Experienced riders will enjoy this trail.
The trailhead is on the corner of a gravel road just north of the south staging/parking area on Carpenter Bypass Road.
Ode to Joy is a downhill-only trail, consisting of singletrack and many features that require speed and skill to ride.
If the first feature is intimidating, this mild double-black diamond trail is not for you. The next trail to the north is Snake Path, which is not mapped here.
The next trail to the north of Snake Path is
Mama Tried. This is a downhill-only flow track, which can be ridden by beginners as some features can be ridden around. At higher speeds, this trail becomes more technical.
If I had to rate this loop, I would rate it intermediate. All these trails end close to an old logging road (
Silver Bullet), that returns you to the trailhead.
