This trail begins and ends at the same point on the Olmstead Loop. The trails are graded dirt roads that were once haul roads and access roads for the Auburn Dam construction site. The dam was never completed, but these access roads remain.
The grades are relatively mild because they were built for truck traffic; however, the route is almost entirely downhill, followed by an almost entirely uphill climb.
In order to access this loop, you must either ride the
Olmstead Trail loop or one of the many other routes that converge near the trailhead for this loop, such as the
Knickerbocker Creek Trail. Alternately, you can ride the paved road from the CDF fire station at the Olmstead Loop Trail parking lot on St. Florian Ct.
