Overview

This ride has the feel of a backcountry ride, despite coming pretty close to the I-80 corridor at times. All of the road and railroad noise disappears as you ascend up and around the back of a small peak and then descend back down the other side.

Expect a very fun descent with very clear sight lines. Usually, there are not many other trail users but be mindful that these are all shared trails as you descend.

Need to Know

This can be tacked on to a much longer ride by climbing out from the end of this ride and exploring the trails to the south and west of this loop.

Description

This lollipop loop starts on the flat Tilcon Lake Trail. The elevation starts gaining more rapidly when you cross Waterloo Valley Road and go under the railroad tracks. Take Mulch Pit Trail up to Border Trail and then continue on to Under the Mulch Trail. There is an unblazed connection on the Unmarked Connector to the Leeroy trail where you finish the climb and then start descending down Leeroy and then on to PreRake and then The Rake trails back down to where you started on the Mulch Pit Trail.
