A good, intermediate ride through the trail system. No black diamonds but some spots you may have to work on a bit. A lot of fun flow and well-designed climbs.
If you're visiting the area for the first time, this is a good place to start. Stop along the way, session some stuff, meet some other riders and soon you'll be a master of the place.
All great rides at Pinnacle Mountain State Park should start with the Jackfork
. From the visitor center parking lot (lower section), look for the trailhead across the parking lot from the Ouachita Trail sign. Follow the Jackfork
signs until you see a sign for Dynamite
. Head that way. After you cross the dirt road, take the bermed left up to the quarry. If you like jumps, stop and play here for a bit.
Continue following Dynamite
up and around through a rocky section with a fantastic view of Shinall Mountain. Keep going on a fantastic downhill with jumps and berms and glimpses of the Big Maumelle River. You'll eventually have a short climb out and you'll head back across the dirt road. Follow this back to the Jackfork
and go left up the hill. Although not too bad a climb, this section is a blast going the other direction but you can check that out later.
Once you reach the top, you'll come to a hub. Stay left and continue to follow the Jackfork
on a fun downhill. Eventually, you'll come to a bermed turn left but go right and continue on Jackfork
until it meets with Lower Stick
. A left on Lower Stick
will take you across the street and on to Coachwhip
This is a fun, great trail with a few features along the way to play on. You'll stay on this all the way around to Centipede
where you'll go right up the switchbacks. This is a much easier climb than it looks like on the map.
At the top of Centipede
, you'll have a choice of two downhill lines, Middle Mountain Run
and Armadillo Run
; make a choice, they both go to the same place and are both fun. At the bottom, you'll meet up with Coachwhip
again, go left and at the trailhead cross the road again to Lower Stick
Follow Lower Stick
up to Upper Stick
. If you want to do more on the downhills or Coachwhip
, you can cross the road at the intersection with Upper Stick
and do it again.
has some mandatory rock sections but you'll soon meet with Jackfork
again. Take a left to get back to the parking lot where you started or head right up Upheaval
to find some other downhill fun.
