The top section between Miller Gulch and Skipper/Homestead is relatively flat, flowy, and fast, and the only section not in a burned forest.

Once you pass the Skipper/Homestead intersection, the descent begins in earnest. It's very old doubletrack, that feels more like singletrack in most sections. It's smooth and fast going down, but like much of Buffalo Creek, the surface is mostly small pebbles that don't provide much confidence on the corners.

Midway down there's a short climb that feels out of character, but it's over quickly. Near the very bottom, there's a sudden ramp down a solid rock face. It's totally rideable, but if you're bombing down fast, it could be a big surprise.

If you're doing a loop around here, going up Buck Gulch and down this trail might be a little better than the reverse direction, but it doesn't matter much. Most of this trail goes through the Hi Meadows fire of 2000.
